Pablo Picasso

Pablo Picasso, the full name is Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Clito Ruiz y Picasso; born in Spain in 1881, was a Spanish painter, draughtsman, and sculptor. As one of the most recognized figures in 20th-century art, he is best known for co-founding the Cubist movement and for the wide variety of styles embodied in his work. Among his most famous works are the proto-Cubist Les Demoiselles d'Avignon (1907) and his depiction of the German bombing of Guernica during the Spanish Civil War, Guernica (1937).

The photographer and painter Dora Maar was also a constant companion and lover of Picasso. The two were closest in the late 1930s and early 1940s and it was Maar who documented the painting of Guernica.

This pictures has a lot of elements of design as balance (from the center of picture, it almost can be balanced) and Dominance (this picture had 2 factors: focus on woman and the small factor is cat). Finally, unity in design: relationship between the individual parts and the whole of a composition.

He draw a woman with a black cat. Her face is strange. People can not predict how old is she because the artist hided carefully and changed her face. Maybe she had two faces: one for smiling and other looks like she was worried about something. She wore strange clothes. She she had 2 kinds of color nails: one was white and other was black. It meant that 2 colors symbolized for 2 opposite things: evil and good.

As seeing this picture, she had a black cat. It is said that this animal symbolizes for unlucky. However people are difficult to prove this. It is a supposition.

Entry for 4 basic elements of the life

This week we are focusing on 4 elements of nature. They are: fire, water, air and earth. These are symbolized for the life. It is said that if there are 4 elements on a planet, it has a life.

We divide 4 people for 4 elements. We chose the bird with these. I drew a fire.

For the first 2 elements, fire is opposite to water so the bird has a contrary direction. It looks like fire is fighting against water. People also have both 2 elements for the life. People can use fire for cooking. Fire power is thus something which is employed to keep the enemy forces outside such ranges where even having superior numbers he can be defeated in detail or be sapped of his will to continue combat, and thus surrender his forces to the force projecting greater fire power. There are several forms of water power currently in use or development. Some are purely mechanical but many primarily generate electricity.

For the last 2 elements, the bird with the earth (left image), you can see the earth is always with trees and leaves, animal as small bird, if there is rich land, people can grow the trees as fruit trees, grasses, and rice fields and they can attract animal to come and eat. The air (right image) is also important. If people don't have air, they can not breath. One of the effects of air is that it can make winds that can have power for people. Wind power is the conversion of wind energy into a useful form, such as electricity, using wind turbines. At the end of 2008, worldwide nameplate capacity of wind-powered generators was 120.8 gigawatts.
